Milepost

Every Ontario deadline for your child, worked out from one birthday.

Not yet on the App Store

Ontario puts a child in Junior Kindergarten in September of the calendar year they turn 4. Registration opens the January before that. Most parents find this out a year late, from another parent, in a playground.

Milepost takes a date of birth and lays out the rest: the child care waitlist you should already be on, the immunization visits, the kindergarten registration window, the records your public health unit needs before the first day, and the camp and recreation sign-ups that sell out in March. It tells you when to start looking, not on the morning the window shuts.

The timeline, grouped into overdue, the next 30 days and later, with each item tagged by child A kindergarten registration item showing the date, when to start acting, why it matters, and a link to the family's own school board The family calendar with deadlines and events on the same month view The family screen listing each child with their age, school and next deadline

What it does

Works the school year out for you

Junior Kindergarten, Senior Kindergarten and Grade 1 all fall out of the birth year automatically. A child born on 31 December starts JK the September they are still 3, which is the part that catches people.

Knows your board, not just your province

Milepost carries a directory of every publicly funded school in Ontario, 5,822 of them across 85 boards, built from the Ministry of Education's own published list. Pick your school and the kindergarten and immunization items point at your board rather than a generic provincial page.

Keeps the things you have not done yet

A missed newborn benefit application stays on the list for a year, because it is still worth doing. A missed recreation sign-up drops off in a few weeks, because it is not. Each item knows how long it stays relevant.

Runs entirely on your phone

No account, no server, no analytics. The school directory ships inside the app, so choosing a school sends no request anywhere. Your children's names and birthdays never leave the device.

Support

Questions, bugs and corrections all go to the same place:

No account needed to get help. There is a fuller support page with the common questions.

Milepost tells you roughly when a window opens. School boards and municipalities publish their own dates and change them every year, so every item links to the source that is authoritative. Confirm there before you rely on a date.
