Reporting a wrong date

This is the most useful thing you can email about. If your board opened kindergarten registration on a different date than Milepost suggested, tell us which board and what the real date was, and we will correct it. Dates move every year and no government API publishes them, so corrections come from parents.

Common questions

When does my child actually start school?

In Ontario a child starts Junior Kindergarten in September of the calendar year they turn 4. A child born in December 2022 starts in September 2026, at age 3, turning 4 that December. Milepost works this out from the birthday and shows the September on the child's card.

Why is a deadline showing as overdue when I already did it?

Milepost has no way to know what you have finished. Open the item and tap Mark as done, or swipe right on it in the timeline, and it stops appearing.

The registration date is not the one my board published

Milepost uses provincial norms, because boards publish their own dates on their own sites and change them annually. Treat the app's date as a prompt to go and look, and use the link on the item to check your board. Then email us so we can fix it for everyone.

My school is not in the list

The directory covers publicly funded schools from the Ministry of Education's list, and the picker only shows schools that offer kindergarten. Private and independent schools are not included. If a publicly funded school is genuinely missing, email us the name and city.

I am not in Ontario

Then Milepost will be wrong for you. The school year rules, the immunization reporting law and the child care system are provincial, and this app only knows Ontario. Other provinces may come later.

Where is my data, and how do I delete it?

On your phone, in the app's own storage, and nowhere else. There is no account and no server. Deleting the app deletes the data with it. See the privacy policy.

Reminders are not arriving

Check Family → Remind me before deadlines is on, then check Milepost is allowed to send notifications in the iPhone Settings app. Reminders are scheduled locally, so they work with no signal and no data.

How do I get my partner on the same timeline?

You cannot yet. Milepost keeps everything on one device and there is no sharing. It is the most requested thing and it is not built, so we are not going to pretend otherwise.
